As the title implies, my hunger was somewhat satiated at my last event in Hungary! Of course i would be completely satisfied with gold but i was proud of my performance at the event last month! I made it to the semi-final before being taken by a strong player from Taipei by a minor (questionable) penalty with just one second left on the clock. But i was able to battle my way through sudden death over time against the home-town favorite from Hungary in the bronze final. While silver is a higher result than bronze, there is something more to be happy about when ending the day with a win.

Here is a podium shot, with a smile 🙂

I won my first two fights by arm bar, here is a shot of match #1!

And a rare shot of the medalists awaiting the podium

After the tournament, myself, teammates Kayla Harrison and Colton Brown , and Coaches Jimmy Pedro and Chris Soriano stayed for a 2 days training camp. It was hot and humid and not heavily attended, but gave us the opportunity to work on our techniques with new partners.

Staying in country a few extra days afforded us the opportunity to see some of Budapest and i was thrilled when i got an early birthday surprise at dinner!

Shortly after it was back to training. But last weekend Black Belt Magazine invited me to do a photo/video shoot at their studio in Valencia,CA. My sponsor Dollamur sent me down to share my knowledge. It was so much fun! Here’s a sneak peek of something you can expect in their upcoming issues!

Next for me is the Pan Am Games in Toronto! I will be heading there on Monday and will fight on July 12th! My only previous Pan Am Games experience was in 2007 in Rio at 63kg where i took 5th place. I look forward to taking my first Pan Am Games medal in a category of formidable opponents!

After that i head directly to Japan for 2 weeks of training, followed by a 2 week training camp with the USA Judo World Team in Boston.

Then it will be time for the big one, the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! A important tournament always, but even more important with the Olympics looming ever closer. My training schedule has me confident that i will be ready to be in top form!

Stay tuned for updates on my journey!!!
